My journey as an author:
As a child, I spent a lot
of time making up stories in my head, but never dreamed of being a
writer. In fact, I read very little back then. My mother, an avid
reader, gifted me a Harlequin for my twenty-first birthday. I was
hooked, and soon after, the idea of writing one of my own nudged
into my brain. A few years later, after my children started school,
I took a leap of faith and began putting those characters and plots
down on paper. At first that meant legal pads, then a typewriter. A
word processor and computer came later. But what to do with my
scribblings?
In the early 1990’s I stumbled across an announcement for a local
writer’s conference. That week-end’s workshops introduced me to the
publishing world, craft, an encouraging editor, and best yet, other
writers. I learned about Romance Writers of America and Mid-Michigan
Romance Writers and joined both soon after. I met writers local to
my area and we formed a small group. Over the next several years I
sold multiple contemporary short stories to the confession
magazines. I gained a love of historical romances and began setting
my novels in the late 1800’s through the Great Depression Era. My
stories focus on home, family, and a heart-rending journey to my
hero and heroine’s happily ever after.
Personal bits:
I now live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with my own hero(better
known as my sweet old man
).
We are blessed with three wonderful children, eleven equally
wonderful grandchildren, and two adorable great-grandchildren. When I’m
not writing or reading; I will most likely be spending time with
family, dancing, camping, traveling, or chasing down my genealogy.
